FALL 2008 NEWS!
- Nothing But Nets 3 v 3 Green Valley United Methodist Church:
Nothing But Nets is a global grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Malaria can be prevented by sleeping under an insecticide-treated bed net. The entry fee to participate in the tournament went directly toward the purchase, distribution, and education about the proper use of insecticide-treated bed nets. Most people in sub-Saharan Africa cannot afford a life-saving bed net. Inner-City Fire the U14-Boys were the champions after winning all of their scheduled games during the competition. We were blessed to have the opportunity to participate in this worthy course. We look forward to doing the same next year.

- Soccer & Computers
Revere High School conducted a two day free soccer clinic at Lane Field. This was their second year of doing this for us. We offer our thanks to Head Coach Mr. Sandor Jakab, his entire staff, and players that were present at the clinic. After the clinic, there were lots of give-a-ways including, soccer jerseys, shorts, balls, shoes, and caps. In addition, ten select players were given a desktop computer along with math, science, history and language arts software that will help them through grade twelve. A laptop was also donated to the Inner-City Soccer Team organization for their continued operation.

Many thanks, to everyone at Revere High School. Your generosity is very much appreciated!

SPRING 2008 NEWS!
- John Irvin to the Rescue:
In an effort to keep the players active year round, we began to look for indoor facilities to use for foot skills and Futsol training. After weeks of searching, what we found was either too expensive or too far away. Then, Mr. John Irvin, the head soccer coach at Hoban came to the rescue. He suggested The Chapel and was very instrumental in securing the gym for us. The location was great and the price was even better. We were able to use the gym at The Chapel for thirteen weeks at no charge. Thanks to The Chapel and Mr. John Irvin for your support and making a difference!!

- Mentor Soccer Club:
Four years ago, Daphne Olree of the Mentor Soccer Club called to indicate that their organization would like to donate some of their gently used equipment to our organization. Since then, the Mentor Soccer Club has continued to donate used equipment to Inner City Soccer. Although, Daphne is no longer with Mentor Soccer Club, she was gracious enough to leave our contact information behind. We received a call from Bunny Bennett who asked if we needed any soccer shoes. The picture below speaks for itself. WOW! Thanks to everyone on the Mentor Soccer Club for providing 100 pairs of soccer shoes. Thanks for investing in our players and in our community!

- N.E.O. Soccer Club:
Since 1999 when Inner-City Soccer Team was formed, one of the wishes was to have the teams play games at Pinnacle Sports Complex in Medina. We finally got the opportunity for the winter indoor games. Mr. Chris Muller, the president and CEO of N.E.O. Soccer Club in Parma, Ohio, made it possible for our kids to participate in the games by paying the registration fees for four of our teams. Chris has been very supportive of our program in countless other ways. We thank Chris for sharing our vision.

We thank and praise almighty God for making a way out of no way, for opening doors of opportunity, for sending along the right people at the right time. Inner-City Soccer Team is a non-profit organization touching and enriching the lives of many youth in the city of Akron, your generous contribution is tax deductible.
Thanks!
