A Full-Circle Moment: Former Player Evan Payne Gives Back in a Big Way

We are excited to share a heartwarming story that highlights the spirit of community and the lasting impact of youth sports.

This past Saturday, during our IN-HOUSE game for our youngest age group (5 & 6-year-olds), we were honored by a surprise visit from one of our former players, Evan Payne.

Evan played with the Akron Inner City Soccer Club during the days when our team proudly wore yellow T-shirts, black shorts, and yellow socks. He is featured in the 2004 team photo — front row, left to right, proudly wearing jersey #2.

Now all grown up, Evan stopped by not just to watch the game, but to give back in a truly generous way. He donated an incredible 518 pieces of soccer gear — including jerseys (both home and away), shorts, socks, gloves, and even soccer balls. These items came in 7 boxes, with 74 pieces in each, and will make a huge difference for our young players.

We were speechless and deeply grateful for his kindness. Evan's generosity is a testament to the values we instill in our players: teamwork, leadership, and community spirit.

To Evan, thank you for remembering where you started, and for helping the next generation take their first steps onto the field.

And to our ongoing sponsors and supporters, thank you. Stories like this are possible because of your continued belief in our mission.

Together, we're not just building soccer players, we are building a community.
